I have a case of I-give-zero-effss right now because this one right here is ready to pack up and head off with the hubs on a week-long vacation as of Saturday morning! WOOOOT. So let's dive into what my pre-vacation confessions are with Kathy!
+ I confess that the whole week before vacation is spent wondering what I need to pack, when in reality I don't actually pack until really late the night before we leave...oops.
+ I confess that while I have to work double time to make sure all of my work is done throughout the time I will be gone, I can't help but procrastinate and make several packing lists for snacks and clothes. Also, said snacks will most likely be bought and will be mostly eaten by the time we leave for vacation.
+ I confess that I worry about the bed I'll be sleeping in. I have a huge phobia sleeping in beds that aren't my own. Hotels, cabins, rentals etc...ugh who the hell knows who splooged where? Did someone die there? How many babies were made on this bed? Omg forget it, I'll sleep on the floor.
+ Every single year I fear that this year will be the one where I will be attacked by a bear. There have been several sitings at this cabin resort and this time I'll be shark weeking it...GREAT.
+ I have to double-check that I bring my own coffee since no one else in my hubby's fam drinks it...da fuck? Addicted. I need it every morning or else prepare to suffer the consequences.
+ I confess I stress about which book I want to read on vacation since I NEVER have this much time to get so much reading done in one week. I need to choose wisely. I'm convinced that I need to read Gone Girl since it's been on my shelf for months and I need to judge the movie that's coming out properly. This vacation is also my trashy TV cleanse.
+ I confess I need to spend extra time with my furbabies because I always feel guilty leaving them behind. They're relentless. They make me feel so bad with those big eyes and even SITTING in my suitcase...like, "hey Mom don't forget us this time." Waaaaa. I mean look at the guilt trip Luigi's putting on me already? Apollo is across the room sulking at my suitcase...
+ I confess that while I was buying all of the snacks for the road, I came across this sea salt caramel gelato....people...now I don't obsess over ice cream, gelato or whatever...BUT go to your local....RUN to your local Target and purchase this pint of heaven. It has fricken caramel truffles in it even for crying out loud!! BUY NOW. Oh and it's vegetarian and gluten free so that must mean it's healthy too. Bahahaha.
Overall, I really can't wait for this relaxing vacation. Now if my suitcase could just pack itself we'd be good to go...
What are your pre-vacation confessions??
I almost never pack until the night before. I hate packing. And I always forget something. I'm right there with you on the bed thing... OMG it grosses me out to think of some of the things that happened in that bed before I slept in it. Ew. I always feel insanely horrible about leaving my dog behind too. Like super guilty... LOL!

I always feel guilty leaving my pup behind on vacations. Packing is never fun and I am always afraid of forgetting something though half the things i pack I don't use. Weird! Hope you have an amazing time!!
ReplyDeletehaha I do the same thing about packing.. I'll make lists in my head all week of what I need to bring but then I won't pack til the night before. Also, I hate sleeping in hotel beds, I am so scared of spiders and bed bugs! And I hate leaving my dogs behind, they get so upset and are sick for days after we get back it's the saddest thing ever!
ReplyDeletePhil (my greyhound) gets super angsty when I pull out suitcases, so I try to wait until the night before to pack. He just huffs and puffs and sighs and groans like his world is ending. Then I bring him to the dog sitter and he loves them so much more than me and doesn't even act excited when I return. Jerk dog.
ReplyDeleteHave a fun vacation!
I always pack the day before. I would be digging in my suitcase and changing whats in there all the time if I didnt!!
ReplyDeleteLoved reading this! I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow! It's really hard to stay focused at work the day before you leave! I always get anxiety over leaving my fur baby! I feel so bad!

haha my cats always jump in or on the suitcase and it makes me feel so guilty! the week before vacation is always spent thinking about the vacation, i should just take that week off too haha
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the book but someone else's comment make's it sound pretty awesome!! I LOVE vaca and hate leaving our dog. When I was younger I used to pack a few days in advance but then found I always needed something I packed so I quit that shit a long time ago. Have an awesome trip!
ReplyDeleteThe Talenti sea salt caramel is AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteIt's not vacation without vacation coffee.
I pack bit by bit the week before.
Have a fabulous trip!
I started reading WILD which is supposed to be a movie with Reese Witherspoon in it but so far I cant really get into it.
ReplyDeleteohhh the cats get me EVERYTIME I go on a vacation!! it is their big eyes. aww.
ReplyDeleteenjoy your vacation! hopefully not too stressful at work this week... i do the same thing as you, put off the work and day dream and make lists, then i'm scrambling friday afternoon to get everything done before i leave!
didnt you just get back from your honeymoon?? so jealous of all your vaca time.
ReplyDeleteim the opposite of you packing-style-wise- i have my clothes in my bag and a list of everything else ready to go at least a week in advance.
Yep pretty much haha. Although I usually never get to take this much vacation time! I wish I had your planning skills...my crazy life just gets in the way too much...that and Netflix haha.
DeleteHey EM!!! That's awesome that your going away!! And I am the QUEEN of procrastination!! I'm telling you, its all the time lol! I cant get over how adorable your kitties are too!!! They always make me feel bad when I leave, especially for vacation!! Hope you have an amazing trip lovely. God knows I need one too lol!! Have a great day Em and talk soon!! XOXO ;D
ReplyDeleteLisa,xo
Someone turned me on to Talenti a few months ago and the Sea Salt Carmel is effing crack cocaine. I can eat the whole thing no problem. My grocery store had it on BOGO a few months ago and I about died of happiness!
ReplyDeleteTalenti is AMAZEBALLS.. IT"S ALL AWESOME..> Drools, now I want some. DAMN YOU!
ReplyDeleteAnd, we're going on Vacation next week, and I'm so NOT stressed about it. Which is totally weird. Maybe it's because I'm desperately trying to keep it a secret from my 7 year old!
Work.. Procrastination.. Me? NEVER>.........I'm lying right now.
OH: Gilmore Girls GIF... makes us bloodsisters just saying.
I JUST discovered this gelato and I feel like I've been missing out on life until now. Bloodsistas!!! :D
DeleteOh my gosh, I feel the exact same way about so many of these confessions! LOL I always make tons of lists but pack at the last second, I HATE sleeping in a strangers bed.. we're going away at the end of the month and my parents rented a house. And I'm already considering bringing a sleeping bag... that's not too crazy right?! Haha Read Gone Girl, it's good!! I had no idea there's a movie coming out though... good to know :) That gelato looks amazing, going to purchase some FO SHO. :) Have a great time on your vacation !!! XO
ReplyDeleteI always pack a week in advance then realize that I need some of the stuff I packed, ha ha.
ReplyDeleteYou need to read Gone Girl! It's such a great book!
Hope you have an amazing time on vacation :D
I always wait to pack the night before too but make lists and think about it constantly.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am totally weird about sleeping in any bed but my own too! Sometimes you will find me in a hotel with every inch of my body covered in clothes before laying down because...ew.
I always feel guilty leaving the furbabies behind. They sure know how to make the sad face!
There's a pistachio version of the talenti that I saw the other day and it makes me want to say "eff it" to my lactose intolerant stomach and buy it. I'm sure it would be so worth it.
ReplyDeleteIf you want quick reads but still good reads try "If I stay" and "Where She went" by Gayle Forman. Both excellent !
Being attacked by a bear is a legitimate concern, and not at all dramatic :)
ReplyDeleteRight? That's what I said to my hubs when he eye-rolled at me haha.
DeleteWe left our cat at home for the first time.. She acted mad at us for the first few hours.. then got over it.. lol love the post!
ReplyDeleteAw that's how my kitties act. So dramatic in the beginning. And thanks lady!! :)
DeleteOh I always pack at the last minute but there's something about the adrenaline rush lol
ReplyDeleteOMG, serioulsy shaking my head "YES" to all your confessions. Sleeping on foreign beds, and therefore an ungodly unknown amount of other people's dead skin cells, hair folicals and potential bodily fluids is the WORST!!! And my family doesn't drink coffee either and I'm always in charge of my own caffeine fix while on vacation. I often get side eyes from them while preparing my coffee, but I'm sure to remind them that I drink coffee for their protection, not mine.
ReplyDeleteThis whole post had me chuckling - mostly because I so agree with every comment you made about preparing for your relaxing trip!
ReplyDeletewho knew it would be so stressful to relax!

No bear attacks allowed! I am a late night packer too.
ReplyDeleteThey don't drink coffee??? What? People like that confuse me. Hahs
ReplyDeleteI literally just finished snacking on my talenti sea salt carmel gelato. It is amazing! Heaven!! How do your in laws not drink coffee?? None of them. I seriously love the smell of coffee even more when I'm on vacation. ahh so good.
ReplyDeleteI pack the night before like I've been given a 15 minute evacuation warning. It's never pretty. As for Shark week, don't sweat it. I've bled in some great vacation places and lived to tell the tale. And you have a Gilmore Girls gif....I heart you! Have a great time!!!
ReplyDeleteI am totally pack early and then repack a few more times in the days before the trip (sometimes day of) before I am satisfied. I would probably repack my bags in the airport if it was allowed. Sadly, I really don't know why I do this. I also thinks it's funny when folks think about the hotel beds. I NEVER think about the hotel bed, other than hoping it's soft and the pillows are fluffy! I never think about others that slept there before, but now I have a feeling I will think about "who splooged here"! HAHAHAHA that line cracked my shit up!
ReplyDeleteLmao! No fear! I'm the same exact way about 90% of these things!! Especially the packing and the fear of being killed by a bear/shark! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh man, I'm going on vacation too (just a long weekend though, so color me jealous of ya), and you just reminded me of my fear of beds.... Ew, ew, ew. Also, you HAVE to read Gone Girl. It is so. effed. up. In the best way possible, of course! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteJealous! This is the summer of no vacations for me, so I'm living vicariously through everyone else who gets to go on trips this year, including you! Lol. And yeah, packing is horrible for me because I wait until the last minute, throw a bunch of stuff in my suitcase, and then hardly use anything I packed because I buy new shit on vacation. Next time I should just bring an empty suitcase. And yeah, the snacks NEVER last.
ReplyDeleteYou had me sold at the picture. Salted caramel is my weakness. As soon as I'm out of this stupid "no sweets accountability group" I'm going to get some!
ReplyDeleteyes, read Gone Girl! it's super good. I also am obsessed with Talenti gelato. the PB cup one is good too :)
ReplyDeleteI just finished Gone Girl last week...I couldn't put the book down. If you read it, let me know what you think of the end. I'm also grossed out by beds, mostly because I'm paranoid about bed bugs, shudder!
