Survival Kit Confessions

When I prep for a vacation, I really narrow into my must-haves first. The things that come to my mind first aren't clean underwear and my toothbrush, but whether or not I have my phone charger and my iPad has downloaded that 400-page Stephen King novel that I refuse to carry around with me. But anywho, let's carry on. This post will be a quasi-mix of confessions with Kathy and my survival kit that Man Crates has inspired me to put together!

EM'S SURVIVAL KIT

Survival Kit

So now that I've laid out my essential survival kit in photos, let's dissect and confess.

+ I confess I need Starbucks. Yeah sure go ahead and say it, I'm a white girl. HOWEVER. I'm not in it for the dumb frap trend, I legit need my effing skinny lattes in the morning if everyone around me wants to stay on safe ground. Ya want bitch Em? Go ahead and try to pry that grande cup out of my death grip. Oh and live to tell the tale. Don't mess.

+ I confess that I need my Life Planner. My Erin Condren Life Planner goes EVERYWHERE with me. If an event, workout or goal isn't scribbled down in there, it simply does not happen. There's something about writing things down in my planner that just makes me follow through with things. Magical. Plus, there are fancy stickers and such with it. It satisfies my inner child.

+ I confess that I need music in my life. Spotify is my outlet to ALL of the music. I need for my runs and I can download whatever playlist I want according to whatever mood I'm in. I seriously can't go through a whole day without listening to music. Lorde, Lana Del Rey, some Michael Jackson and 90's hits. GIVE IT ALL TO ME.

+ I confess that I need my iPad Air. My iPad allows me to bring everything with me for both work and personal reasons. It has a million hours of battery life that allows me to Netflix binge without worry and keeps me connected. Not in the mood to read a particular book? Let's pick another one out of my Amazon Kindle app. One swipe and boom. There. My dreams come true. #nerdlife.

+ I confess that I need my Brooks running shoes. I swear by these bad boys and they allow me to run all the live long day. They provide the best support for my arches and I just can't go very long without hitting the pavement and relieving some stress with a great run. I'm planning on running the Chicago 15k Chocolate Run in November and these babies will carry me through yet another race. I'll be so sad when I have to replace them. Which should be soon. Good lord, am I really getting sentimental over running shoes? Weirdo. I also ran the Chicago Rock 'N' Roll Marathon Series race this past weekend. Read all about it here! It was an amazing race to participate in.

What would be in YOUR survival kit??? CONFESS!! I'm over here blog hopping with the wonderful Fitness Blondie as well!

  2. I NEED to live somewhere with a chocolate run, because.. duh.
My next set of running shoes is going to be from Brooks. I went with Under Armor shoes in Feb and I love them, but I also really loved the Brooks.

If I don't have my phone, I can't function. I can't plan things, I can't check the temperature, time, date, my vitals (ok, that last thing isn't really something I do, but my phone does make it an option), what my homies are doing. I need to be in the know.

  3. I just went to a paper planned a few weeks ago and I can't live without it. I moved to phone only several years ago and I just couldn't keep track of everything. My survial kit would have chapstick, Breugger's Coffee (because their flavored coffee is delish) and my phone. I can't do without any of them!

  10. I LOVE STARBUCKS! I have to have it. Sure, I am sure I would be rich if I wasn't spending money there every day, but hey at least I am a nice poor girl and not a bitchy one :) Happy hump day!

  12. We just came back from vacation.. My survival kit of must haves

    1) My new running kicks, and running attire... I managed to get one decent run in last Saturday
    2) Book on CD... sometimes music doesn't cover it when you have a LONG DRIVE
    3) Water/Snacks - My huge ass water bottle and Beet Chips, Almonds, and Dark Chocolate Covered Raisins... Klay accidentally threw them out.. so the ride home was VERY SILENT. just saying.
    4) My iPod, for when I run.. or when I wanted to tune out whatever Emry was watching on TV at nighttime.
    5) Wine... for those, "we're parents, and the kid is in bed by 9p.. and we're still awake" moments.

  13. Gosh, definitely my iPad and my double wall insulated 16 oz cup with straw, chapstick/lipbalm, those are the top three I think of.

  14. For sure my iPhone and iPad. I must always have a book with me and the Kindle makes it easy. Something to drink (water or diet coke) is a must.

  15. I love my planner! I'm lost without it & I will never be one of those people who can put all of their events in their phone/online.

  16. The fact that you listed Starbucks as essential made me laugh because a few months ago I posted a picture of me in my Northface jacket holding my Starbucks cup and a friend told me I was white a.f. I don't know what I would do without my planner. I would be so lost if I ever misplaced it! I need an iPad!!

  17. I have only had my EC planner for like a week and already I am obsessed!!! But still, would die without my phone and my people. I got so lonely here just recently being in a hotel all by my lonesome for days... not used to that! Can I put people in my survival kit?

  21. It's a pain for me to comment on blogs from my iphone- is it better on the ipad?

  22. Phone and Ipad go on all trips with us. I like the ipad b/c it can be computer plus e-reader, and it is easier to carry than the actual laptop.

  23. I'm totally with you on your iPad. I don't need my laptop, but I definitely need to take my iPad everywhere with me!

  24. I had never heard of Man Crates before... they are awesome! Definitely going to give one as a gift for Christmas- thanks for sharing! Also, I would definitely need coffee, phone and music, but I don't own an iPad... boo!

  26. I chat do anything without my phone. It's ridiculous how much I'm on it. And I'm never really doing anything. Erin Condrens make my heart smile.
