Confessions Of A Mad Blonde

It's hump day and this blondie right here is about to lay the smackdown on hump day confessions with Kathy...because well...I haven't had a nap and I'm out of cupcakes...let's pray that I make it to Friday.

+ I confess that my former loan officer shouldn't be a loan officer. Why? He was careless enough to send over SOMEONE ELSE'S financial information social security, credit report and all. Oh and let's focus the word FORMER loan officer. What an idiot. Like I'm going to put my finances and mortgage into the hands of someone like that? Excuse me while I digitally kick you in the balls for being so incompetent.

+ I confess that I'm upset over one of my fav trainers leaving my gym and NOW I might have to face finding a new hangout since I'm mostly subjected to this hack "trainer" who doesn't know what the flip she's doing. Plus the class schedule on weekends is ridiculous and end at noon...seriously?

+ I broke down crying in the bathroom at work today because I just want to live in our new home with my husband and two furbabies and have infinite moneys to buy things with without having to slave away at work. #adultproblems

+ I confess that I haven't started my wedding thank you cards yet. Can there just be two of me? One that stays at home to do shit like this and the other to go to work each day?

+ I confess that I was too lazy to wash my hair Monday morning so I just didn't and slept in more because I'm just that worn out. #zerofucksgiven.

+ I confess that when I feel awful, my misery loves company so I attempted to show Josh this video. (He's still getting over the Disney owning Star Wars thing...)

+ I confess that while I hate it when celebrity news is trending and considered breaking news, I laughed hysterically when Ray J gave a check to Kim and Kanye for $47k representing four months of the profits from the sex tape that was made as a wedding gift. Never forget your roots, girl!

+ I confess that I at least look at my honeymoon photos three times a day and imagine that I was still there with the hubs. (That post about the honeymoon will be written I swear). Although no sex tape was made. Kim still has one over me.

What are you confessing to today? Anyone else having a particularly nightmarish week? In the words of Will Ferrel, "I'm in a glass case of emotion!!!!"

Friday Freakout: SELFish Bully

So yesterday I read about how SELF magazine contacted a runner who was wearing a tutu during a race. She didn't know how the photo was going to be used, but just like everyone else, she was flippin' excited and said "sure!" Little did she know, they would bash her for wearing a tutu. It turns out she was wearing a Superwoman outfit complete with her tutu for being a cancer survivor. It motivated her to get through training and to complete this race. She ran a dang marathon WHILE undergoing chemotherapy. Do I really need to pull out the four-letter c-word here for what SELF has done to this poor woman? Yes, I do.

As a runner myself, this is not only offensive because of her personal story conquering her battle with cancer, but because I feel that SELF magazine is being a giant bully. And I don't like bullies. Shove that subscription up your ass, SELF. You can find the full story and details here. It makes me so mad and so sad for this amazing woman to have felt so humiliated.

But really, I've participated in quite a few races myself, and I think it's all too common for people to just have fun by wearing a costume or whatever else with the daunting task of finishing a race no matter what the distance is. If a tutu gives a runner the momentum to keep going and finish that race, you go girl! Work that damn tutu! Want to wear a cape throughout the whole race? More power to ya! This whole debacle really rubbed me the wrong way. A fitness magazine such as SELF should be all about empowering people who want to lead a healthy lifestyle, not bashing them. I have no time for bullies. And seriously, do your homework, SELF! Usually runners have a reason why they dress up for races! Fricken idiots! She was rocking that tutu for charity. I hope you feel real dumb, SELF.

The editor-in-chief took time out of her day to apologize...if you want to call it that. Really she just hair flips the whole thing and says "oh we didn't know she was a cancer survivor" yeah well really that's an excuse? You can read the the "apology" here. You know what's on the "BS Meter" now?? Your magazine, SELF! I hope you feel like reaallll big jack-holes, SELF. Have fun dealing with the decline in revenue for this really awful snafoo. And ya know what? I'm going to wear a damn tutu in my next race in honor of Monika Allen. If wearing a tutu apparently makes me "lame" according to them, then I want to be lame 100% of the time. Forget about the tutu, what about rolling around in colored dye on the gravel and running through it? Yeah that's me and proud of it. You have one less subscriber, SELF. TGIF!

I embrace my lameness. Come at me, bro!

Cheers to all of you other LAME race participants who wear costumes and other things that make us so high up on SELF's lame meter. I know I'm heated about this topic. Do you participate in runs? How do you feel about this? I feel like going all Tony Montana on their asses, but I'll just stick with this passive aggressive blog post instead.

Better Work Bitch

As someone who was brought up to appreciate and earn everything that I have, sure I can be pretty bitter when people receive handouts...but even more so when I see ungrateful little snots walking around with their iPhones and UGGs like they own the damn place as they bitch about how their mom or dad didn't buy them this or that. Back in my teenage years, I had something called an allowance...something that was earned and was a fixed amount. Oh and I had a job. If I wanted something that was outside of that amount and I didn't save up...tough cookies. Did I hate it? Yes. Did I think that it wasn't fair? Oh hell yes. BUT now, I appreciate what I have that much more. Why? Because I worked hard for it. I feel like a lot of people these days have this crazy expectation that they are owed something when they've put themselves in a certain situation (i.e. having kids way before they were ready or dropping out of school). I really want to understand this mentality...okay maybe I don't...but really...HOW does one think this way? Maybe it's just my Republican roots speaking, but I was brought up in a family that understood the saying, "hard work pays off."

I feel like my generation and younger ones are being coddled to the core. This is happening right underneath my nose and I can't stand it. There is no shortcut to success...unless you plan to be some kind of trophy wife. I hope for Kim Kardashian's sake that her face and body can sustain a lot of Botox. What else does she have to fall back on? Besides a bed? Okay that's not fair. She always has her failing clothing line at Sears.

Working hard doesn't just apply to one aspect of your life either, it's also essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. People are still working very hard looking for that magic pill to lose 50+ pounds and not have to walk into a gym. If there is such a thing, please let me know...but as of right now, put down that doughnut down and go do a couple laps around the block if you want to lose the tire around your waist. It's not easy and it will suck something awful, but you'll feel even better about yourself once you've earned those rock hard abs. Achieving my fitness goals were the hardest to do, but it's all about your mindset and focusing on what you want the most. Yes, sometimes I do decide that I want that extra glass of wine errr..bottle.. that night but that just means I have to spend some extra time at the gym kicking my ass for succumbing to temptation (and yes, sometimes those pumpkin spice lattes are also worth every extra push-up). I suppose there will always be those people who feed off of others to succeed in life and depend on others to move up or take the easy way out...but that doesn't mean I can't glare at them and rant about it later. I think my cats do the same thing. Awesome, I'm turning into Apollo.
