This weekend definitely made me go into summer overdrive. With temperatures hitting 80-90 degrees, this bod was glued to the outdoors as much as possible to rid myself of this ghostly complexion. To start off my weekend I went for my morning run and ended up spoiling myself with a hippie-like summer dress. After that I treated myself to some Starbucks, bought some groceries and treated myself to a pedicure. I needed a "me" day that was uninterrupted by the drama that is infecting my life right now. It was a success...minus eating the bad sushi...that was a not-so-fun time.
I got my hippie dress at Funky Monkey, a place adorned with all things hippie. I love it. I was in need of a fun summer dress and this was the place I knew I'd find it. I found the perfect tie-due maxi dress that is actually quite warm with all the cotton fabric gathered at the bottom BUT it looked too awesome to pass up. It also doubles as either a halter or criss cross back.
I got my nails done at Fabulous Nails, my usual place. They do a fantastic job and take walk-in appointments. I believe that getting a pedicure is very therapeutic and I needed an emergency session. I picked out a bright summery color to snap myself out of a bad case of the blahs.
After my pedicure I soaked up some rays in my backyard while reading my new book since ending the 50 Shades of Grey trilogy. I read all three of those books in a little less than two weeks. All I can say is....oh man. I could not put them down and I suggest all women to read them and for all men to take note of Christian Grey's sexual prowess. I have to hand it to E.L James for creating a fictional character that ended up having quite an effect on me. I was definitely sad to realize that the series had come to an end and will eventually experience 50 Shades withdrawal symptoms I'm sure. I will never look at red rooms, patterned ties and helicopters the same way ever again. The series also made me realize that I need to spice up my love life. Ha! On a side note, while reading, I was able to smell all the flowers that are blooming like crazy and the calla lilies (that are also my chosen flower for my wedding) are beautiful!
My Sunday also started out sunny and bright. I definitely like running in shorts and a T-shirt rather than piling on the winter wear. After finally getting over the get out of bed obstacle, running along the lake was beautiful and nothing but enjoyable. It was definitely a hot/sweaty run. After my run I went for a jog with my sister. After we cooled off we went to Bath & Body Works where I dropped an obscene amount of money due to their sales going on. SO now I am loaded with summer scents to last me...probably two summers. I also stocked up on some sunblock and Aloe Vera because it's a given that with my complexion, I will burn. It never fails, so therefore...I will be prepared this time.
After I stocked my cabinet with my new purchases, my sister and I soaked up some rays for the remainder of the afternoon drinking margaritas and listening to some summer tunes. I successfully got some color, however due to prior exposure to the sun this morning, I have a mean sports bra tan line. Tan line aside, I am quite happy that I no longer resemble Casper. Bring it on summer, I'm ready!
