Honeymooning Confessions

So I confess that I never actually posted about the honeymoon really (only a photo here and there) SO here we go! Confessions with Kathy honeymoon edition!

When we woke up that morning to head to Barbados I was dreading it. I hated flying but I couldn't get enough of being called "husband and wife" and it still makes me all giddy and tingly inside. It's okay if you feel like vomiting right now. I'm sure a lot of people felt the same way if they ever overheard our conversations during that time period.

+ I confess that we didn't go snorkeling, go on crazy island adventures or go on any expensive yacht sunset cruises but ya know what we did do? Each other. A lot. Deal with it.

+ I confess I was really envious of the old retirees who could go on aforementioned sunset yacht cruises, but the ocean view with the hubs was enough for me! Oh and many colorful, alcoholic beverages.

+ I confess that we DID however go on a historic walking tour and we were the only ones on said tour...the rest of the people on the bus from the other resorts went on a booze cruise on a pirate ship. Really right now? It sounds lame, but we learned a lot of interesting things and we got to go visit some of the island's oldest buildings and churches. So there. We also stopped off at a bakery and got DELICIOUS coconut scones.

+ I confess that I will be a fish snob for life after having the BEST fish there. I've had salmon since the honeymoon and it's just not the same....#snob. The food there was overall just so amazing and fresh!

+ I confess that I drank more rum than fricken Captain Jack Sparrow that week. Perfectly acceptable to be tipsy on a Tuesday...at noon right?

+ I confess that I took full advantage of social media outlets to make sure my coworkers and friends knew that I was relaxing in front of the ocean while they were slaving away at work throughout the week. Because holy hell on earth...planning that wedding was like running a marathon I didn't train for.

+ I confess that the one thing that did suck was that our trip wasn't all-inclusive....and the food was $$$. The food on the resort was amazing, but we made sure to eat elsewhere like everyone else did and went shopping to cook some of our own meals. Of course Josh was in heaven when he ordered hot wings at a nearby cafe. Look at that face. Happy hubs.

Our first morning in Barbados we got up late and wanted breakfast brought up to the room...although it was all delicious and fancy...$50 each boom. No, the eggs were not laced with gold shavings...but damn that coffee was good.

We made a little bird friend and named him Pringle since we kept on feeding him Pringle crumbs from our balcony. Smart bird....we paid up the ass for groceries and here he is condo-hopping for snacks. He had the right idea...

I confess that I even liked the beer there (I'm more of a wino).

+ I confess that since Josh and I have been together for 8 whole years, I didn't think we would go through that "honeymoon phase" but oh man we hit it hard and it's still going! I get so whiny and annoying when I'm not with him it's ridiculous. Swimming in the ocean with him for the first time was absolutely HEAVEN despite getting loads of salt in my mouth. Damnit, I'm such an amateur. Oh and just throwing it out there that I'm SO proud of my fitness progress. Not going to lie, I think I look pretty solid here. Thanks kettlebells!

I confess I rocked some pretty mean tan lines when I switched bikinis. #vacationproblems...bloody hell...

On our last night, we went with some other people to go experience some nightlife and had Marlin for the first time! Oh and more rum. SURPRISE. I swear, two of those small cups will knock you on your ass.

Right before we were going to leave for the airport, it rained for the first time! It was gloomy and depressing...foreshadowing to what was to come with the four-hour flight delay and missing our connecting flight.

I can't believe that it's been close to two months since we said our I dos and I can't wait to see what's in store for us!!

I'm also linking up with the amazing Liz at Fitness Blondie! Hop on over there while you're at it!

  18. On holidays there are no rules about when you're allowed to be tipsy but on honeymoon - no one can complain except the hubby :) looks like you had fun x

  19. I definitely would have chosen the historic walking tour over the booze cruise too! And I consider alcohol at noon a requirement on vacation, I mean it's vacation.

  20. Oh my, those beach pictures look amazing and I want to be there right now!!!

Why does food have to cost so much damn money on vacation?!?!

  23. good lord your beach shots are ridiculously gorgeous. I think it's 100% acceptable to be drinking rum all day on your honeymoon :)

  24. I love that you still get giddy over being called husband and wife. It's one of the cutest things when I'm reading my romance books that they get giddy over, lol. OMG that Captain Jack reference was awesome and I'm not an amateur beach / ocean swimmer but I hate getting in the water when the waves are big because of the gross salt!

  25. haha more rum is always the answer! i still regret not bringing a bottle back with us from St Lucia. the expensive food and grocery's were exactly why we picked an all inclusive, i would have died at the thought of $50 breakfast. oh and we only did one excursion a land and sea boat tour now that was totally worth the $125 each and lots of rum
