I Confess my Cat is Obese

Confessions with Kathy this week will be an Apollo edition. Apollo had his annual shave down yesterday and kitty is GRUMPY. We usually de-fluff him around this time since being a Persian/Himalayan kitty, he gets MAJORLY fluffy. He likes his fluff and now I know why...he probably hides snacks in it. True Life: My Cat Is Obese.

This is when he found out that he needed to go to the vet. I lured him into the kitchen to make life easier. His thoughts: You bitch, you trolled me.

I confess he hates me for about a few hours and then loves that he can actually clean himself properly. BUT we're facing a whole new ballgame  with this vet visit. Kitty weighed in at 17lbs!!! Is there Crossfit for kitties? Biggest Loser: Pet Edition? I confess that I've slacked on participating in kitty playtime.

But I have faith that Apollo will lose those lbs in no time. Sorry Apollo, no Beachside Crunch for you. Only light food and plenty of laser pointer playtime. Your frequent cat naps are about to be cut in half. Your horizontal runs and upside down planks don't count.

I confess that Apollo has mood swings when you ration is snacking.

He thinks gastric bypass is the answer and I keep telling him no. He'll have to be working out with me everyday. He's not pleased. Grade A whiner. I'm confident he'll make sure to aim  at my pillow next time he coughs up a furball. Look at him? He's just yelling like a toddler. Luigi isn't having any of it.

Oh and to add insult to injury, I confess I put a Bears jersey on him that's made for a small dog. He won't even look at me at this point. He really has perfected the resting bitch face.

If Apollo could talk, he would probably be bitching me out pretty hard right now. And if he had thumbs? He would probably strangle me and then make a beeline for the fridge. But really though, we hope it's not a thyroid problem and it's a simple fix with some extra playtime and some new food. Here's to you, Apollo. Day 1 of your kitty weight loss.

Oh and one last confession....

I confess that I love the new T. Swift song and I rock out in my car every single time it's on...look forward to those snaps...

  2. I don't even like kittahs, but Apollo seems like a cat that I would have if I was a cat person. We could have RBF together and I completely understand how hard it is to get up off your ass and move it, naps are just so much better.

  11. Oh, his face in that shirt! So funny! We had to have our dogs Thyroid tested a few months ago because of the weight he had gained but he's just fat and lazy! His diet has really helped the past couple months :)

  12. Ohhhh my goodness, I love your kitties! Apollo is hysterical! One of my cats, Gershwin, once weighed in at 23 pounds! He is a big cat to begin with, but that is just too much. We got him down to 19, but over the last couple of years, he's lost another 4 lbs. We're actually a little worried about his thyroid, but is getting on in years, so it could just be because he's an old man now.

But anyway, love love love your cats. Hilarious!
