The Book Hangover

First off, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!!! I'm sure everyone isn't sick of all of the heart-shaped foods, balloons, flowers, chocolate, crafts etc.!!!! Sometimes it comes to a point where I just want to punch Pinterest in the vag and I'm not even single! There is a fine line between having WAY too much time on your hands and being crafty with all of these Pinterest ideas floating around. You can just classify me under one of those Pinterest Fail photos. Yep, that's me.

If I have any free time at all, it's dedicated to feeding my book addiction. I'm a bookworm to the max and nope, I'm not ashamed! For all of you book lovers out there, I'm sure you can relate to having a book hangover, a condition you get when you finished a book or series and you just are in complete denial of it ending and want it to continue!! My biggest hangover was with Stieg Larsson's Millennium series. It was so fantastic. Now, I'm just starting Jo Nesbo's Harry Hole series. Nesbo is a Norwegian writer who was compared to Larsson so I figured that I MUST invest in this series. I'm usually not into crime-fiction novels either! It's a long series (10 books) so I'll be busy for quite some time! I have so many other books on my shelf/iPad too that I have yet to dive into. This is what Josh has to deal with all the time. He's such a keeper.

I absolutely love going to bookstores. I hate that I have succumbed to reading books on my iPad...but they just cost less AND it just takes up a little space in my bag (I read huge clunker books at times). I'm such a book addict, I have the Nook app, Kindle AND my iPad's bookshelf. Is there a support group for book addicts?

My only fear in life is when I find out about a movie adaptation of one of my fav books.

What is everyone else reading? What book has left you with a severe book hangover??

  1. I really like the Harry Hole series- I wish they were released in order in English rather than just kind of all over the place! I can't believe they only got around to translating & publishing the second book last year! I might have the re-read everything in order now that they're all caught-up.

I'm probably going to buy a Kindle soon- I'm tired of lugging twenty kilos worth of books every time I move countries. :(

  2. I'm currently reading Gone Girl for a book club I joined. I'm enjoying it. I finished "Room" in a day because it was so short, I enjoyed that, a very interesting narrative. I see in your sidebar that you're reading/have read Mindy Kaling's book, I loved that book - it made me laugh out loud in the most inappropriate places, I think mostly because I could see so much of myself in her.

  3. I laughed out loud at the "punch pinterest in the vag" comment! I felt that way about myself, too, just posting about my valentine's day gifts! Oh well!
And I used to read incessantly but alas blogging has taken up that time! Kind of makes me sad and your post inspires me to read again!

  4. That's a cute kitty you have there.

I'm currently reading Harry Potter... for the first time. And yes, I was a child in the late 90s. I feel like I'm one of the very few people my age who hasn't read it, so I'm indulging my inner child.

I don't go to book stores anymore since I've switched to the Kindle. I miss the feel/smell/atmosphere of a book store, but the Kindle is just too convenient and also saves space. Kind of ruins the magic a little, though.

  8. I can so relate to a book hangover. I have yet to succumb to an e-reader as my husband request, time and time again. I'm thinking it is about time however, especially when I am reading a series, it is just so much easier than going to the book store at that very moment. And since I love going to the used book store over a commercial one, it is sometimes hard to find what I am looking for!
