Five Favorites from the '90s

I'm a 90's kid to the core. I came across some posts that lead me to list five favs from clearly the best era ever. Man was it hard to pick just five. Now to start off this Friday with a blast from the past....

1. NSYNC. Obviously. They were my boy band of choice. I had trouble accepting friends who had a different preference...i.e. BSB, 98 Degrees, LFO etc. NSYNC was where it was at. If you didn't like them..yeah go suck on a Little Debbie Zebra cake.

2. Beanie Babies. I kid you not, my mother would have my sister and  I call around to ALL of the Hallmark locations and toy stores within a fricken 100-mile radius to see if they got new Beanie Baby shipments in. My first Beanie Baby was the mouse that was worth thousands. Yeah remember that crap? A stuffed animal filled with beans was worth a grand or more since it was one of the "rare" ones...and what did I do to make sure that my dad didn't take it from me and sell it behind my back? I tore that tag off and shredded it to pieces. What a bastard child I was. Why on earth would anyone actually pay that much for a sack of beans? Oh yes of course...

3. Gel pens. Primarily the neon colors so teachers couldn't read fucking anything on the page. But that's okay, they solved that problem and came out with black notebook paper. Sorry teachers everywhere, hope your benefits included a comprehensive vision plan.

4. Cassette Tapes. A million of them. How else were you going to record your favorite songs off of the radio? You better hurry your ass up and get a blank cassette tape ready when the top 40 comes on.

5. Nickelodeon before it went to shit. Yes, I'm talking Rocko's Modern Life, Rugrats, Doug, Salute Your Shorts, Are You Afraid of the Dark? The list goes on. Stick Stickly for the win.

Come on 90's kids, what do you miss about the '90s?? Let's hear it!

  2. the 80s and 90s are my favorite. music will never be as good as it was back then. all that garbage that's out now - omfg it's like ear rape every time that shizz comes on. and i remember when nsync first came out, they were at my local mall in the HMV doing signings. the place was EMPTY when i walked by and they were all there behind the table, waiting for people to come in. i looked in and thought: pfffft! what a bunch of one hit wonders!! then turned my nose up and kept walking. oh how i wish i could go back and give myself a huge bitchslap!!

  17. The milky pens were the best! I think I still have a silver one around somewhere. Saturday mornings were the best for saved by the bell. Good times!

  18. Absolutely! I loved those milky pens and I totally forgot they made black paper, lol! I was a boy band fan all around but I really didn't have a favorite. I did see B2M and All 4 One in concert once. I remember recording the top 8 or whatever so we could have all the good ones. My mom is so sad she can't find the beanie babies anymore for Holidays.

  22. I love how all of NSYNC is grabbing their crotch. My mom thought that was so disgusting! LOL We were just talking about how CDs used to skip or get scratched and you would have to go buy the same one a million times. That never happened with cassette tapes but I really like the downloadable version much better :)
